Vale - Graham Percival Gympie Qld.
1934-2009
After a long illness Graham
Quietly passed away on 17th February 2009.
Graham lived most his life in
the Gympie area .He left school at the age of 13 to work on the family dairy farm. Later on he went and work for the Railways.
Then moved back to the land
purchasing a farm at Bell’s Bridge, just North of Gympie, where he started breeding racing and showing his birds seriously.
Flying with the Gympie Club
he enjoyed competing in Breeder’s plates and One-loft races around the country.
Graham was a very consistent
flyer with his natural ability and some very good pigeons bred down from the Randall Uncle Sam and ABC bloodlines which flew
from the distance exceptionally well for him. In later years Delbar, Houbens and Staff Van Reets came to the loft. In 2006
he won 7 races straight, from Yamba 250mls to Townsville 600mls.
He
hoped to compete again this year, but unfortunately it was not to be.
Graham will be missed by the
many flyers that would drop in on their way through. Sadly Linda, his wife cannot cope with the workload of the farm and do
justice to the birds as well and the birds will be sold at the end of April.
Notices will be posted in the
ARPJ in due course.
His many friends in the sport
offer their sincere condolences to Linda, their sons and daughter, and his many grandchildren that gave him so much pleasure.
Rest in
Peace.
